The CBD lotion truly arrived at a great time. As the winter months roll in, we almost always deal with irritated, dry skin, and we hoped that this soothing CBD lotion would help bring much-needed relief. The instructions say to “apply a dime-sized amount to the affected area,” so that’s exactly what we did. Here’s what we felt:

Smell

Calm by Wellness’s Lavender Lotion smells like lavender, but we were pleased that the smell is fresh and floral and not chemical-laden like some lavender-scented products. It’s also a light fragrance, and while it’s incredibly soothing while it lasts, it doesn’t 

Consistency

The lotion is relatively thin but was still surprisingly moisturizing. Typically, we like our cream to have a little body, but it was particularly convenient how far this lotion could spread in our particular case (where we had chapped skin reaching from our hands to our elbows). It also absorbed quickly and left no greasy residue, which means we weren’t concerned with it ruining our sleeves. 

Effects

When we applied this CBD lotion, we needed quick relief from chapped, burning skin. The lotion itself was excellent and soothing upon contact, but not any more than any other lotion would have been. However, it took only about 20 minutes for the burning and itching sensation to almost entirely cease, and our skin was generally more moisturized and calm for several hours after the first application. 

In this instance, though, our chapped arms needed a bit more care, so we decided to reapply the lotion at night alongside a dose of the brand’s CBD Sleep Tincture. The mild lavender scent was incredibly soothing, and overall the smell was a peaceful addition to our nighttime routine. Best of all, we woke with noticeably less redness and irritation. After a few applications, our wind rash cleared completely. 

All in all, we think this lotion is an excellent addition to a self-care routine but also makes a powerful skincare remedy against skin irritation. 

This CBD Lavender Lotion costs $35.99 per bottle and contains 200 mg of CBD, so it costs right at $0.18 per milligram of CBD. Typically, this falls into a “premium” price range, but it’s not out of range for high-quality CBD topicals. Considering the use of skin-soothing botanicals and organic hemp material, we think the lotion is worth the price. Many competitors come in at a lower price range but contain none of the targeted ingredients or natural fragrances.

Overall, Calm By Wellness’s CBD Lavender Lotion is well formulated and mild enough even for sensitive areas of skin, which makes it a great alternative to the many menthol-laden creams in the market today. The price point is higher than some competing products, but the ingredient list is thoughtful and unmatched by many similar products.  We especially love this lotion as part of the CBD Sleep Bundle but think it could make a soothing addition to anyone’s regular skincare routine.
