Smell (Irrelevant to effects)
Canna Comforts CBD Iso Oil (1000mg) is a terpene infused isolate product, and like other isolate products, it is free of any “hempy” smell. In fact, this tincture was completely odorless when we opened the bottle.
Taste (Irrelevant to effects)
Not only is this isolate completely odorless, but it’s virtually flavorless as well. It’s a great option for anyone who dislikes the hemp flavor of full spectrum tinctures and could be easily added to beverages or food without altering the taste. There is a slightly nutty aftertaste, likely due to the flavor of the added carrier oil (MCT coconut oil).
The consistency of Canna Comforts Iso Oil is somewhere between the consistency of water and vegetable oil. The liquid is thin enough that it is easily measured and dosed, but just think enough to provide a mess-free dosing experience.
Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity)
Because this is a tincture, we expected fast results. Just like we thought, the effects of this isolate kicked in after about 15 minutes. The onset is mild, but it definitely does its job. This 1,000 mg tincture is stronger than many similar items on the market, and its pain-relieving effects are prominent. When dosing as the bottle recommends (half a dropper full, or 20 mg of CBD), the effects were strong for over an hour and we still noticed mild relief 2-3 hours after dosing. This product was perfect for adding a dose of CBD to our morning coffee, and we didn’t need another dose until around lunch to experience consistent effects throughout the day.
Best used for
CBD isolates are unique in that they contain only isolated CBD molecules (and in this case added terpenes for increased medicinal benefit). That means this product is THC free, which makes it appropriate for people who are THC sensitive or are restricted from THC use. Since even the trace amounts of THC in some full spectrum tinctures may pose the risk of a failed drug test, this isolate offers a safer option for some people.
Plus, Canna Comforts 1000 mg Iso Oil is one of the more potent options on the market, which may make it useful for people who require larger doses of CBD. Some research argues that full spectrum tinctures offer more benefit due to the synergistic effects of THC, CBD, and other naturally occurring cannabinoids, but isolates may serve a different purpose. A 2015 study by Israeli researchers shows that CBD isolate products provide more consistent effects over time, compared to full-spectrum tinctures that tend to peak after 6 hours and then fade away. The study also shows that the efficacy of CBD isolates increased with higher doses, while the efficacy of full-spectrum products did not change, regardless of the dose.
This isolate oil may be appropriate for any ailment that responds to CBD, but due to its potency and efficacy, it may be especially useful for managing chronic pain and inflammation, or other more severe conditions.
