Smell (Irrelevant to effects)
The Special Sauce strain from Canna Comforts smelled very green, with notes of cut grass and a hint of a sour, almost gasoline-like scent. There was also a hint of lemon, slightly tart and tangy, that mingled the herbal and sour flavors nicely with the skunky notes expected from traditional cannabis.
Taste (Irrelevant to effects)
This high-CBD hemp flower tasted refreshing—herbal and earthy, but with a pleasant brightness to it, similar to a light-roast coffee. It was especially enjoyable in a water pipe.
The buds themselves are a bit smaller than most of the other strains we tried from Canna Comforts, and were a deep piney green with a pronounced layer of crystals complemented by spindly, red-orange hairs. They were subtly sticky, barely noticeable at first but definitely enough to leave a thin film of resin and crystals on your fingertips after breaking some up by hand.
Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity)
Since this is an inhaled product (unless you choose to make your own CBD oil with these flowers), the effects come on very quickly. We felt relief from anxiety and stress moments after our first hit, and felt pain relief within a few puffs. The effects compound with each hit, so you can easily fine-tune your dose as needed, taking more until you feel better.
We felt relief from chronic pain, anxiety, arthritis, depression, PMS symptoms, and menstrual cramping for about four hours after consumption, with peak effects around 30-45 minutes in. Since the effects set in so quickly, this strain is ideal for treating sudden symptoms like anxiety attacks or muscle spasms.
Best used for
The beauty of this raw, organic hemp flower is that, unless you’re averse to or chose not to smoke, it can be used to treat any condition you would otherwise use CBD extract for, from epilepsy to cancer to cardiovascular disease. It’s particularly useful for treating sudden flare-ups of symptoms, like panic attacks or nausea.
Because it doesn’t contain high levels of THC, this hemp flower can be used to make your own CBD oil at home, making it an excellent option for people looking to incorporate CBD and other beneficial cannabinoids into their food at higher doses, as it’s more cost-effective than tinctures and other premade extracts.
