Smell

The cbdMD Freeze smells very astringent, with its isopropyl alcohol, menthol, and tea tree components coming forward.  Because of its high alcohol content, we don’t recommend it for susceptible skin without following up with a hydrating product like a balm or cream to seal in moisture.  That said, we do have high hopes for quick dry time and absorption rate.

We should note that the smell of the roll-on is a bit strong, so you might need to allow it some time to dissipate before heading out after using it. It has a very medicinal scent, so it doesn’t play well with other fragrances for the first thirty minutes after application.

Consistency

The CBD Freeze itself is clear and fluid for easy distribution within the roll-on applicator.  We like the roll-on format of the CBD Freeze, as the rollerball can act as a light massage, aiding relaxation. The product is pleasantly cooling on the skin and absorbs very quickly, without leaving any unpleasant residue behind. We did notice that, occasionally, the liquid would seem to stop dispensing despite the continued motion of the rollerball.  A quick shake solved this problem, but it is something to note when applying the product.

Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity)

The CBD Freeze Roll On is cooling and soothing on contact, with the added massaging benefit of the rollerball applicator.  It dries quickly without leaving any greasiness or stickiness behind, and the cooling effects last for 45 minutes to an hour.  The cooling impact of CBD Freeze is perfectly pleasurable on the back, temples, shoulders, legs, and arms but should be kept away from mucous membranes and intimate areas to avoid a terrible time.

We felt pain reduction on contact that lasted about 3-4 hours, along with a marked decrease in redness and inflammation.  We like this roll-on CBD freeze for fast-acting relief from pain and inflammation, but it also reduces tension headaches and joint stiffness.  Wherever you need a soothing dose of localized CBD, this product can provide symptom relief quickly.

This roll-on is excellent for muscle soreness, injured joints and muscles, and localized pain post-workout. That said, it will likely burn broken skin and may irritate sensitive tissue, so keep it away from cuts.
