Smell (Irrelevant to effects)
Earth Medicine Alive MicroCBD Natural CBD Drops smells like sweet citrus as soon as you open the lid. It smells quite like they squeezed a fresh lemon right into the bottle – aromatic, bright, and just a little sour, quite like the scent of Lemonhead candy.
Taste (Irrelevant to effects)
This product has a very strong, sweetened, lemony flavor that is also similar to that of a lemonhead, only sweeter. It leaves behind a touch of a bitter, hempy aftertaste. It’s sort of a shock to the senses compared to many “flavored” tinctures, which usually only offer a hint of flavor. The taste isn’t bad, just a little strong, but would be fine if you enjoy the flavor of a strong lemonade or other lemony sweet treats.
This tincture has a very strange consistency. It’s pretty thick and slightly milky in color. The thicker consistency makes it a little bit more difficult to measure as air bubbles seem to get trapped within the medicine piper. After a little tinkering, however, you can measure these CBD drops just as accurately as any other. The oil is heavy in the mouth, and in combination with the strong flavor is definitely more suitable to those with a tolerant palette. Although very different than many CBD tinctures we have tried, nothing about this oil was considerably displeasing.
Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity)
Upon investigating these natural CBD drops and their intended use, we found that Earth Medicine associates it with “energy, stress, aches, imbalances, mood, and calm.” By its name and these claims, we decided to test this tincture by taking the recommended dose (20mg) first thing in the morning. The lemony flavor is very refreshing in the early morning, and after about twenty minutes we definitely felt more alert than usual. It took about 45 minutes before we began to feel any other effects, and the onset was very mild. However, the tincture did seem to provide the same “calming” effects as the regular CBD dose it replaced. More importantly, it seemed to help push off the “mid-morning” fatigue we usually notice before lunch. Although it can’t be said which ingredients provided which effects, Earth Medicine lends the “lifting” effects of this tincture to its lemony additive.
More significantly, though, we noticed drastic effects when taking this tincture in the afternoon, about the time that evening fatigue begins to kick in. Again, after 20 minutes we felt slightly more alert, and after about an hour we felt a slight “boost.” We wouldn’t compare it to a heavy energy drink (which we know isn’t very good for us anyway!), but these drops definitely lifted the “foggy fatigue” that often plagues our afternoon after a busy morning in the office. Even better, it fought off a mild headache about an hour after dosing, too! The effects lasted quite some time. If redosing were necessary, we’d say it wouldn’t be necessary for at least 6 hours or more.
Best used for
This tincture could be useful for helping to maintain balance within the endocannabinoid system, or for many other conditions where CBD may be appropriate. Some research suggests that CBD may help promote focus or may even be useful in the treatment of ADHD and related disorders, though more evidence is needed to fully understand CBD’s effect on the brain. Cannabidiol could also help soothe sore muscles or other inflammation that causes fatigue. Some studies also show that it may help balance certain hormones, like cortisol, the stress hormone. There are many reasons that this CBD tincture may be useful. Further, these CBD drops utilize MicroCBD technology or a miniaturized version of CBD that is water-soluble and therefore may be more easily and efficiently utilized by the body.
