Smell (Irrelevant to effects)

The smell of Joy Organics Pet CBD Oil Tincture is incredibly mild, almost to the point of being non-existent. The light hint of aroma is similar to the plant-based smell of most cooking oil, like grapeseed oil, which is one of the carrier oils used in this formula.

Taste (Irrelevant to effects)

Like the smell, the Pet CBD Oil Tincture has minimal flavor. (Yes, we tried it ourselves—the ingredients are so wholesome!) There are no flavor additives or animal products to give this tincture any flavor. Still, no flavoring should be necessary anyway for a product that can be dropped in your pet’s mouth and instantly absorbed! The near flavorless formula is perfect for picky pets, as it can be added directly to any favorite food.

Consistency

The Joy Organics CBD Oil Tincture for Dogs, Cats, & Pets is light gold and thin enough that it is easy to measure out in single drops. Four drops give approximately 1.1 mg of CBD, so it’s easy to use this product to create a tailored CBD regimen based on the pet’s breed, size, and condition.

Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity)

We had one trusty product tester this time around. Caesar, a 75-pound pit-mastiff mix who suffers from hip dysplasia, has previously tried and approved Joy Organic’s CBD Dog Treats. Still, at only 2 mg per treat, it took 3-4 before we noticed the big dog getting any relief, so we were excited to give this pet tincture a shot instead.

Caesar is new to CBD Oil for Dogs and wasn’t thrilled about having anything “dropped” in his mouth. He’s a nut for peanut butter, though, and eagerly licked his 8-milligram-CBD-and-peanut-butter concoction from the spoon. Later, we found that one dropper full (which averaged about 30 drops or roughly 8.25 mg) placed on top of his regular food did the trick every time. It took only about 15 minutes for his rear limp to subside, and he didn’t seem to need a second dose for over 8 hours. After increasing the amount to approximately 12 mg one more time, we noticed he was a tad bit more sluggish than usual. Backing down to the 8-9 mg doses corrected this problem quickly, and since then, Caesar has experienced nothing but relief when using this tincture.

The Joy Organics Pet CBD Oil Tincture is a great option for any pet that may benefit from CBD and offers an easy, tangible dosing option for every pet owner. With a low potency of 1.1 mg per drop, this tincture could easily be used for small and large animals. There are several conditions frequently affecting household pets that CBD may be useful for. Best Used With (Complimentary Product)

While the Joy Organics CBD Oil tincture can hold its own, this product works well alongside Joy Organic’s CBD Pet Treats (or another quality, low-dose CBD treats for pets). By giving Caesar the tincture first, he was able to get relief quickly (as opposed to the 1.5+ hours it takes for the treats to take effect). Two low dose treats given 4-6 hours after the tincture dose seemed to help extend the relief to all day, without needing another tincture dose in the afternoon.

This 30 mL bottle contains 250 mg of CBD and costs only $35. Even for Caesar, a giant dog, that rounds out to less than $2.50 per dose. At roughly 8 mg per dose, the bottle offers him about 31 doses. For a smaller dog who needs only 5 mg of CBD a day, each dose costs approximately $0.70, and the bottle would last for 50 doses. The price of this tincture is $0.14 per 1 mg of CBD, which is on the low side of the average price for this type of CBD product for dogs.

Competition/Alternatives

There are other CBD oil for dogs that compare in terms of effectiveness for the pet, but this one has one clear benefit for pet owners: it has no odor. Many other pet tinctures are flavored (usually with some meat and veggies combination) and can have a powerful smell. Pets may love it, but it’s not always so easy on an owner’s weak stomach. This tincture has no stink and is equally as easy to dose as the leading competition.
