Smell (Irrelevant to Effects)
As soon as we opened the Binoid Water-Soluble CBD Wellness Drops (500mg) in the Orange flavor, we were met with the sweet, crisp, citrusy smell of orange peel. The scent was delightfully similar to the experience of slicing open a fresh orange, though milder on account of being captured in a bottle.
Taste (Irrelevant to Effects)
Honestly, we weren’t as impressed with the flavor of these CBD drops as we hoped to be. That isn’t to say that they’re bad, but their flavor doesn’t match the refreshing scent at all. To be frank, they just taste rather like orange-flavored cough drops — not our favorite. Of course, if you like orange flavor and don’t mind the hempy, herbal aftertaste they leave behind, you may enjoy this flavor much more than we did. We were pleased to find that, when mixed into about 4 ounces of orange juice, the flavor of the tincture is completely undetectable.
Consistency
These off-white CBD drops are less viscous than traditional formulas, with a medium thickness that’s easy to measure and dissolves effortlessly when mixed into a beverage. When taken sublingually, they don’t feel heavy under the tongue or leave any residual filmy feeling like many oil tinctures do.
Effects
We unboxed this tincture to try it out against sore, overworked back and arm muscles the morning after a pretty intense workout. Two testers (and workout buddies), took the same sublingual 16.6mg dose (one dropperful) at the same time, but the effects varied slightly between the two.
The first person noticed the first effects after about 50 minutes, while the second didn’t begin to experience relief until after an hour and fifteen minutes had passed. Once apparent, however, the effects were consistent. Both testers felt the slow release of tension and pain accompanied by improved range of motion in muscles that were previously too tight to move much at all.
Like their onset time, the duration of these effects also varied between the two (likely due to metabolic and biological differences). The first tester experienced relief for around 6 hours, while the second didn’t feel the soreness return until after about 8.5 hours. This could reflect differences in how the tincture was absorbed. It may also suggest that those who take longer to see the initial effects could feel more lasting relief compared to people who feel more immediate relief from the same product.
The first product tester decided to take a second dose in the afternoon, this time by dissolving the drops in a small glass of orange juice. The effects they reported were similar, but the onset was closer to an hour and a half (compared to under an hour the previous sublingual dose).
Although we were pleased with the effect these drops had on our sore muscles, we noticed an added benefit that became apparent after dose number two: increased focus. Actually, it seemed as though we were able to zoom through our afternoon with ease after these CBD wellness drops kicked in, without the burden of muscle soreness or the afternoon’s usual mental fatigue. Overall, both testers were pleased with the experience from these drops, especially when masking the hempy, herbal flavor with a cold glass of juice.
