This product is no longer being manufactured, for an alternative, we recommend the CBDefine CBD Cream
Smell (Irrelevant to effects)
The bottle has no smell, which attests to its super secure packaging. One small pump of this CBDfx Hemp Cream releases a mixed aroma of menthol and essential oils. The smell is what you would expect from a cream meant for deterring pain and muscle aches, and smells sort of like the blue Halls cough drops. The smell is pretty strong at first, but fades away quickly, leaving only a light, minty scent on your skin, which you still have to try pretty hard to detect after only 30 minutes.
Taste (Irrelevant to effects)
We didn’t taste it, and based on the menthol smell and creamy consistency, we’d guess it tastes pretty bad. Heed the label’s warning: “This product can only be used topically.”
CBDfx Hemp Cream is somewhere between thick and thin, which makes it suitable for using this cream for managing pain around the joints and major muscles. Unlike a thicker salve or balm, this cream is thin enough that a small amount covers a pretty large area. One small, metered pump from the bottle produced only a pea-sized amount of cream but was enough to cover an entire knee area, front to back.
However, the cream is still thick and creamy enough that it is easy to apply to any targeted location, compared to some topical products that are thin, runny, and pretty messy.
Effects (Onset, Duration, Intensity)
The menthol cooling effect of this cream is immediate. As soon as the cream touches your skin, you feel the soothing relief you may recognize from other menthol topical products, like Vick’s. This product, however, packs a different kind of punch, and CBD’s pain-relieving qualities begin to work their magic after about 20 minutes. One product tester (who has bad knees due to multiple injuries and surgeries) applied the product to both knees at the first sign of swelling and pain. After about half an hour, the swelling had gone down entirely, and he was able to walk about normally.
Another tested used the product for tense shoulders and a sore neck (after sleeping on it wrong) and felt the same level of immediate relief. This hemp cream really surpassed expectations, however, when using it for sciatic pain, which went from a debilitating level to a mild throb after just using this cream.
The cream also combined well with CBDfx Lychee Lemon Kiwi Tincture to eliminate sciatic pain entirely. The effects of the pain-relieving cream lasted quite some time, about three hours after application. Reapplying is simple, and the little bottle is well-made and super portable, so we carried it with us to use as needed.
Best used for
CBD has a variety of potential uses, like managing anxiety, improving poor sleep, and relieving inflammation and pain. However, this product seems to target pain and makes a good solution for anyone hoping to use CBD topically to manage soreness in the muscles and joints. Additionally, evidence shows that the topical application of CBD may reduce symptoms of pain and inflammation due to arthritis.
A similar study showed that synthetic versions of CBD also helped reduce pain and inflammation in the knee in patients with osteoarthritis. This cream contains several ingredients (other than CBD) that may boost it’s pain-relieving effects, like menthol and caffeine.
